SCT Logistics
SCT Logistics started out in 1974 as Specialised Container Transport, founded by Peter Smith, and it's still owned by the Smith family and run out of Altona in Melbourne. It started running its own trains in 1995 with a weekly Melbourne to Perth service, and later added Parkes and Adelaide to the network.
SCT's freight first came to Queensland in February 2010, with its wagons running on Aurizon's Melbourne to Brisbane trains. In January 2017 it started running its own Melbourne to Brisbane services into a new terminal at Bromelton, on the standard gauge line just outside Beaudesert. The Bromelton Intermodal Estate was officially opened in August 2017. It cost $35.2 million, with $9.6 million of that from the federal government, and has 10 hectares of terminal and warehouses with about 6 km of track, right beside the Sydney to Brisbane line.
SCT's own mainline fleet is two classes: the SCTs, built new for it by Downer EDI, and the Chinese-built CSRs. Over the years it has also leased power to fill the gaps, including a few Pacific National NRs.
