The LDPs are nine EMD GT46C-ACes built by Downer EDI at Cardiff for its own leasing company, Locomotive Demand Power, which is where the class letters come from. In December 2008 Downer signed a deal with Queensland Rail to lease all nine to QR National's growing standard gauge intermodal business, for an initial five years with an option of five more, and with Downer looking after the maintenance. They're the same design as SCT's SCT class, with a 16-cylinder EMD 710 and AC traction.

The first ones arrived at the end of 2008, and the rest followed by mid 2009. LDP001 to LDP003 wore Downer's hire livery, while LDP004 to LDP009 came out in QR National colours. LDP004 was the first in QR National livery and was on trial in Melbourne in May 2009. They spent their QR National years on interstate intermodal trains between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Pacific National later bought the class, and in 2022 it started repainting them into PN colours and reclassing them as TTs.
