The 2141 class are eight locomotives built by Clyde in 1973 as part of the 2100 class family. They were financed by the developers of the Greenvale nickel mine and were initially confined to the 229 km line from Townsville to Greenvale. They were originally numbered as the 2200 class, and were renumbered 2141 to 2148 in May 1982 to free up the 2200 numbers for the 2170 class.

Between 2005 and 2007 all eight were rebuilt as members of the 2250 class.
