South-East Queenslands commuter needs are growing. With the triplication from Mitchelton to Keperra & triplication of Salisbury to Kuraby underway more trains will be needed. To help ease these needs, 8x 3-car Suburban Multiple Units have been ordered from Walkers Ltd/EDI Bombardier in Maryborough for delivery in 2007, with the prospect of more on order in future.

The 8x units will be based on the recent design used by the Transperth B sets, which are now in service on Perth’s Suburban System for their new line openings.
